IT'S THE SUMMER!!!!!!!!!!!
Hey guys!
So summer vacation is almost here, so I thought it would be a good time to talk about places you can go. If you're really bored or just want to tell some interesting stories when you come back to school, you should go to these places. They aren't your ordinary museums or sight-seeing places, I mean, did you really expect me to write about something ordinary? I think you guys will find this interesting, and maybe even check one of these places out. Enjoy!
1. The Island of Dolls
This island in Mexico is probably one of the creepiest places in this post. If you enjoy being disturbed for some odd reason, you should go here. This island has a very interesting story. It started with Don Julian Santana Barrera, the "caretaker" of the island. While he was on this island, he had found the dead body of a girl near a canal who had drowned. He later found a doll floating nearby, and concluded that it was probably the girl's doll. In order to apologize for not being able to save the girl and support her, he hung this doll up in the tree. He also claimed to be haunted by the girl and hung more dolls up on trees. But these weren't normal dolls. No they were far from normal. There are eyeless dolls, body-less dolls, headless dolls, should I go on? Most of them look as if they just came out of a horror movie. Not long after he hung them up, he realized that these dolls were haunted by dead girls. He kept hanging more dolls up and when his time finally came, he joined the spirits of the dead girls. "Where did he die?" Well, he died just where he found the dead girl in the very beginning, near the canal. It was almost as if his life made a full circle.
Any who, you guys should definitely come here. You can even bring a creepy doll of your own and hang it up! Legend has it that these dolls are still haunted and follow you around, so you'll have a grand old time!
2. The Mystery Spot
The Mystery Spot in Santa Cruz, California is one of a kind. It literary makes you question the science behind gravity. You hike up a small mountain until you reach a small house. Here, you can roll a water bottle up a slope without it coming back down and stand in a way that makes it look like you won't fall down. You may be taller to someone next to you one second, but the next, you'll be shorter than them. There are many theories regarding this area. Some people think that there are metal cones buried here secretly and are now used as guidance systems for their spacecrafts. Just imagine a bunch of alien astronauts taking a pit stop here at Earth before continuing whatever mission they had. Apparently there actually is a spacecraft buried in the ground here so...
3. The Museum of Bad Art
If you ever get tired of seeing a bunch of cool places and meeting a bunch of people you'll never be like, you can always come here and know that you don't always have to be the best at everything. The Museum of Bad Art (MOBA) is a place that collects the weirdest looking art you can find. Some pieces were even taken from the trash. I wonder who was told to go dumpster diving just to find bad paintings. MOBA's motto is literally, "art too bad to be ignored". This is the kind of place I think my drawings should go in. Honestly though, not all pieces in the museum are bad, they're just not good. Like I was looking at the website and they had a painting of Bill Clinton and I could actually recognize him. Like it wasn't just a blob of colors, but it was far from looking like a professional painting. This museum actually gets a lot of visitors so if you go, you won't be the only one there. You might want to check it out!
4. Ben and Jerry's Graveyard
Who wouldn't want to express their condolences to the flavors that brought them joy in their childhood. Yes, I mean flavors. This isn't a graveyard for Ben and Jerry, but a graveyard for the flavors they created. I'm honestly a little confused because I'm not sure if the flavors actually died. I was thinking that maybe it's the flavors of ice cream that they don't use anymore. I was checking their website, and I was right! I didn't even know they had a flavor called Oh Pear. If you feel like remembering the deceased flavors, you guys should definitely check this out and see what they wrote on the graves.
5. Bubblegum Alley
You know all those kids who chew gum and then stick it under the desks? Well this is the perfect place for them. It's literally just a walkway where you can walk between walls covered in gum. You can add on to the collection by putting your own piece of gum here too. As gross as it may sound people actually make mini pieces of art with the gum. There are flowers, faces, and even words. Some people believe that this wall was the aftermath of a rivalry between San Louis Obispo High School and Cal Poly students. The wall was cleaned off two times but by the third time, everyone just gave up and it became a sight seeing spot. I'm surprised at how many people said that a place covered in chewed gum is a really nice place to go to. Someone even said that it was "Fun and Funky!" on TripAdvisor. I guess you'd have to see it to believe it!
Well, I hoped you liked this post! The summers coming and you shouldn't get bored so make sure you put these places on your bucket list. I hoped you liked this blog, I know I enjoyed writing about weird things and ranting about certain people. I probably won't be writing much anymore, so I won't be able to keep you peeps entertained... the horror! Remember for the years to come, that "life is short, smile while you still have teeth." I still don't know who said that.
