Challenges & Trends
Welcome back peoples!
Do you think your parents ever thought that their children would live in this kind of world? A world where people make up weird challenges and they go viral? I don't think my parents thought that. I actually don't think they know these challenges are a thing even now. They're not up to date with these kinds of things (they didn't even know what lol was). Anyways, today I made a short list of trends and challenges that have gone viral. Disclaimer: I don't mean to offend you if you like any of these things, although if you like to eat Tide Pods I'm a little concerned... Enjoy!
1. Tide Pods
Why? Why would you do that to yourself? You know how there are safety warnings on toys and bags that say to keep away from babies and small children? Well now they're going to have to put warnings on Tide Pods to keep away from teens or anyone who thinks eating something used to clean clothes is edible. I don't understand why someone would do this to themselves. Even children know that this isn't safe... most children at least. Tide pods are used for CLEANING. Nowhere in the directions does it say, "Oh, and by the way, feel free to put this in your mouth."
2. Mannequin Challenge
I think this challenge is both pointless but cool at the same time. Like why would you want to watch a video of people not moving? There's no action in it so there isn't anything that keeps your attention for long. Like someone might be in a weird position, but after a few seconds it just gets old. I don't know, maybe I just don't have a long enough attention span. I guess you could give the people who are in the videos credit because they stay completely still for a long time. I definitely wouldn't be able to do that because I'd probably end up falling or something.
That's honestly me though |
3. The dance moves
The Whip, The Nae Nae, Hit The Folks, EVERY Fornite dance. You probably won't go a day with out seeing someone at least attempting to do them. Don't people get tired of doing the same moves over and over again? I'm not going to judge you if you still do them on a daily basis, but.... actually I might. On top of that people try to look cool by making weird facial expressions! Like no one wants to see you contort your face like that. The most recent move, I've heard of, is The Woah. Now I didn't know what this was until like two minutes ago and honestly I still don't get it. Like is it just moving your wrists and pretending like you're stopping? I don't know. Please tell me if you do though. This makes me feel old, and that's sad because I'm younger than most of my grade 🤦♀️.
This is more my style :) |
4. The sayings
The dance moves aren't the only things that are overused. There are words that are completely made up. I'm pretty sure people said the first thing that popped into their head and then made a definition for it. The most recent thing I've heard is "yeet". This too, it's from my sister which makes it super cringey. Like it might be normal-ish to hear from strangers because they may seem like the type of people to say it, but this is my sister we're talking about. The nerdiest, most uncool and awkward person I've met, and unfortunately see 24/7, is going around saying "yeet" in the randomest times. Not only this, but last year everyone in my grade would say "what the" whenever they got the chance. Like it wouldn't even make sense. You could be walking in the halls and someone would just turn to you and say "what the". There were these two kids who made this especially annoying to hear. One of them would say it normally but way too often (I'm pretty it's the only thing he knew) and the other would say it in a very high voice. I'm really glad that it's over now.
5. Slime
Do you remember that time when everyone was obsessed with slime? This was probably Elmer's favorite trend because of all the glue people bought. I'm surprised there wasn't any news on people eating this- if there was then I didn't see it yet. People made slime with whatever they found. Like can anyone explain to me how you can use toothpaste to make slime? There was a legit black market going around in BMS with people selling slime (and fidget spinners- remember that?)
6. Songs
Songs are nice to listen to, I mean that's why we have them, but after a while they can get annoying. Take "Hello" by Adele for example. That was a nice song but people started to play it too much and now it isn't as good as it was before. Recently I went to Disney and all I heard in the buses was "Old Town Road" by Lil Nas X. Now I'm not saying it's a bad song (although I personally don't really like it), but I keep hearing the same line over and over again. Like the moment I step into the bus I hear, "I'm gonna take my horse to the old town road...." I even hear it in the airport and when we're waiting in lines. When they sing that song all I can think is, "Do you know any other part of the song?!?! Or even better, a different song?" I might've stayed indifferent towards it if they sang different lines but that didn't happen. What's even worse is that when I came back that's all my friends would sing. -_-
Hopefully you guys could relate to this some what.
Arigato!

Hi, I really like this blog entry it made me giggle and everything that your saying makes complete sense Nice job tavishi!
ReplyDeleteThis blog was really funny and relatable. I think half of the "trends" are just absolutely ridiculous and it's about time someone said it. I really enjoyed reading!
ReplyDeleteI really like this blog because it's funny and you made good points on how these trends and challenges are pointless. I hope that a lot more people get to see this and learn to not do these trends and challenges. Good Job :)
ReplyDeleteSo relatable. seriously what is the point of fortnight dances and "yeet" also I don't know if you've heard this one but people just sat "bet" and honestly I don't get the point because it doesn't fit in the conversation.
